College Entrance Tests
Most colleges require students to take one of two college entrance tests, either the SAT or the ACT. These tests do not measure how much a student knows, but his or her aptitude for college success. Colleges rely on the students' academic record to indicate what subjects they have learned and their mastery of those subjects. The college entrance tests offer information to the school that is not available in any other way.
Both tests require advance registration and payment. The registration deadlines are several weeks in advance of the actual test date, which requires students to plan ahead. There are usually no last minute registrations allowed.
