    Student Leadership Council

The purpose of the student leadership council is to train students to be Christian leaders, promote unity of spirit within the student body, and to provide leadership in Academy activities. Student leadership council members have an excellent opportunity for discipleship and leadership training. Membership is open to boys and girls in grades seven through eight who are not on academic probation. A member must regularly attend and be involved at his home church, show faithfulness in academics, behavior, extracurricular and council activities, and display continued growth and maturity in his spiritual life. It is a privilege to sit on the council; therefore, discipline problems or negative attitudes may lead to dismissal from the council.

    Chapel

Students will attend the junior high chapel weekly. Various speakers are featured in these weekly chapels. Students are expected to observe normal classroom rules while attending chapel. Students are required to bring Bibles with them to all chapel services. Each student will be required to take notes during chapel which will be counted as credit for their Bible grade.

    First Friday at Jennings Park

Students will need a sack lunch. This first Friday of the new school year provides an opportunity for getting to know one another.

    Retreat

At the beginning of the school year, 7th and 8th grades will participate in the "Fall Away". This is a three-day, two-night retreat designed to build unity among the classes and throughout the junior high. Many organized activities are scheduled and guest speakers are invited. There will be an additional cost of $65 for all students attending the retreat. All students are encouraged to attend. Retreat days will be counted as school days.

    Winter Olympics

While the high school is away at their Winter retreat, junior high students attend morning classes as usual. During the afternoon the students will have the opportunity to take a break from the regular schedule and participate in the Junior High Olympics. This will be a time of healthy competition between the two junior high grades.

    After-school Clubs

The school has a limited number of after school clubs that vary from year to year. Clubs are designed to encourage leadership and teamwork and it is considered a privilege to be a member. Each student must maintain a good attitude. Students who are on academic probation will be allowed to attend meetings, however they will not be allowed to participate as an active member in decision-making and activities. The junior high department is always looking for new club ideas and volunteers to make these clubs successful.
